This position is based in our EU Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

The area: Product Quality Operations (PQO)

The Product Quality Operations (PQO) team fights for the users. We defend Google's integrity by combating spam, fraud and abuse of our products. It's a constant game of cat-and-mouse to stay ahead of the bad guys and ensure that our advertisers, publishers and users have a safe and seamless experience. We work with Engineering to define, communicate and enforce policies across nearly all of Google's products in over 40 languages. PQO team members use their technical know-how and work across functions to develop innovative solutions that always put the user first.

The role: Search Quality Team Lead

The Search Quality Evaluation (SQE) team's mission is to make the world's information more useful by defending the integrity of Google Search. On the SQE team you have an opportunity to make a significant and direct impact on the quality of Google's search results. You improve user search experience by reviewing search results for quality and content. You reach out to our webmaster community, provide user support, create market-specific policies and develop tools to aid our spam-fighting endeavors. You are part of a high performing team that is passionate about keeping Google Search at its best.

As a Team Lead in Search Quality Evaluations, you will lead a world class team responsible for protecting Google and it's users by fighting abuse and fraud for Search, while ensuring trust and reputation not only for this product, but also for Google as a broader brand and company. You are a strategic leader who possesses the ability to work globally and cross-functionally with several internal stakeholders through effective relationship building, influence and communication skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking through data-driven decisions, and the technical know-how, charisma, and ability to work with your team to provide leadership to do what it takes to get things done in order to make a difference.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a major role in developing the fraud / abuse / spam fighting vision and strategy for your particular workflow(s)
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Finance, Engineering, Product) to achieve this vision and strategy by setting up and maintaining systems and processes that ensure a seamless user experience
  • Increase effectiveness of your specific product abuse / fraud team by identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement through people and tools/technology
  • Transform the current workflow to make more scalable, implement a model under which efficiency & automation goals greatly exceed existing industry norms, and develop / regularly report on department growth and performance metrics
  • Work as part of a broader product quality operations management team with regards to strategy, process improvement, people development and technology implementation

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA / BS degree. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in one of the following areas preferred: internet technology, online search, eCommerce, online payments or online advertising/publishing, policy enforcement / user trust / risk / fraud investigation / product abuse
  • Relevant experience leading, mentoring and motivating large operations teams (people management).
  • Experience managing semi-technical teams, working in a semi-technical role. High level of comfort to leverage technology to achieve business goals
  • Strategic and analytical thinking; strong ability to source problems, analyze data, and drive business strategies, decisions, and solutions.
  • Project Management; Attention to detail; Gets things done; Strong process improvement, prioritization and multi-tasking capabilities.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, organization, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
