The Blue Ground-Dove is a widespread, handsome small dove of open woodland and clearings. It occurs from Mexico south to northwestern Peru and, east of the Andes, south to northern Argentina. The male is pearly blue-gray overall, with black spots on the secondaries and wing coverts, and entirely black primaries.

Native Habitat These birds can be found in tropical, humid areas, and are often seen near forest edges, clearings and roadsides. Their range extends from southeastern Mexico and parts of the Caribbean to northern Argentina and Peru.

Adult males have blue-grey upperparts and paler grey underparts, becoming grey-white on the face. The flight feathers and outer tail feathers are blackish, and the wings are boldly spotted black (these spots often forming distinct bands).
